Physical Health and Mental Illness explores the impact of mental illness on physical health and wellbeing. Drawing on best practice guidelines, this one day workshop will provide a range of strategies for participants to utilise when supporting people to improve their physical health within mental health contexts. This workshop also focuses on the importance of using an integrated approach when addressing physical and mental health needs.
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- consider the physical health status of people living with a mental illness and their carers
- work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to address a range of physical health needs
- support the person living with a mental illness and/or their carer to improve their physical health status
- familiarise themselves with a variety of support services and resources available in the community.
