February 2022
Hello everyone
I’m Vivien Tait and pleased to meet you, as I become Acting CEO for One Door Mental Health. I’ve worked with One Door for 5 years, ordinarily as the Chief Operating Officer. Kathi Boorman is away from the CEO role for 3 months, taking part in the Social Impact Leadership Australia program. Kathi will expand her knowledge, engage with other leaders in the for-purpose sector, and build partnerships to increase the impact of our services for the people we support.
As COVID-19 continues to intrude on us all, One Door is open and active – we’re still here, providing social connection and support; for people living with mental health challenges, for carers and for families and communities.
One Door has welcomed the release of the National Lived Experience (Peer) Workforce Development Guidelines by the National Mental Health Commission. Since 2015, Peer Workers have been an integral part of many of our teams. Growing and supporting our peer workforce continues to be a key priority. Peer Workers bring unique experience and insights, as they support people in recovery.
I invite you to read more about what’s new at One Door this month, including our Term 1 program at Western Sydney Recovery, and our ‘Staying Connected When Emotions Run High’ training for carers and professionals. You can also come and say hello to us on Mardi Gras Fair Day at Victoria Park, Sydney on Sunday 20th February.
I look forward to connecting with you and others in our One Door community; you can find me at CEO@onedoor.org.au.
Warm regards,
Vivien.
