Recently I posted on our website to let you know about our consultation process with some of our teams. These consultations highlighted the vital importance of One Door being here, alongside the people we support, into the future. Be assured, this is what guides us.
Our NDIS direct services teams have continued to be impacted by a decrease in activity and service utilisation experienced during the Covid-19 lockdowns. These teams, supported by their Coaches, have worked tirelessly to generate operational and financial improvements. Devastatingly for us all, the team and organisational actions have not led to the balanced results that we were aiming for.
As One Door continues to work towards sustainable operations, we must now reduce our NDIS supports, by closing two of our valued centre-based services: West Street Nowra and Hercules House Chatswood.
In supporting NDIS direct service operations, we will replace our Recovery 2gether Coaches/Operational Leads, with a NDIS Project Manager and Plan Facilitator who will support our three remaining NDIS centre-based services (Illawarra Clubhouse, Harmony House, and Frangipani House).
Our Recovery 2gether Coaches/Operational Leads will support our program-funded, self-organising teams.
One Door is saddened that we have needed to close these centres. The challenges of the NDIS and pricing arrangements have made it difficult for us to keep operating services in these centres. We remain committed to providing services to people living with mental health challenges and those receiving NDIS supports. We will continue to advocate to government to see an improved NDIS for people living with psychosocial disability.
